The Stade de France is a multi-sports stadium located in the Plaine district of Saint-Denis, near Paris. Built for the 1998 FIFA World Cup, it is capable of hosting various sports events, including football, rugby, athletics, and concerts. The stadium cost around 300 million euros to build, with one-third of that amount being used to set up secondary installations. It was inaugurated by then-President Jacques Chirac on January 28, 1998, on the occasion of a France-Spain football match.

Since its inauguration, the Stade de France has hosted several major sporting events, including the 1998 FIFA World Cup, the 2003 World Athletics Championships, the 2007 Rugby World Cup, the UEFA Champions League finals in 2000 and 2006, and the Euro 2016 final. It is also a popular venue for concerts, with artists like The Rolling Stones, AC/DC, Madonna, Black Eyed Peas, Johnny Hallyday, and U2 having performed there.

However, the stadium is also remembered for the terrorist attacks that took place on November 13, 2015, during a friendly football match between France and Germany. The attacks resulted in the death of 130 people, including spectators outside the stadium.

The Stade de France is set to play a major role in the upcoming 2024 Olympic Games if Paris is awarded the hosting rights by the International Olympic Committee.

Formerly, in the year 1901, it was in the old Hôtel Dieu in the city. It was only in 1972 that the municipality of Saint-Denis decided to acquire Carmel and set up the museum of art and history there. Thus, it re-opened its doors in this new establishment in 1981.

The Cathedral of Saint-Denis has undergone different classifications since its conception in the 17th century. Originally, this cathedral was founded as an abbey and did not receive cathedral status until 1966, but the surrounding garden was classified as a historic monument in 1926.
