Discover the First Tower or Tour CB31
Built in 1974 under the direction of architect Pierre Dufau, the initial tower of the First tower was dedicated to the Paris Insurance Union by Bouygues. This tower, 159 meters high, was built at the location of the filming "Le Chat" released in 1971. Its central axis symbolizes the three insurance companies whose merger gave birth to the Paris Insurance Union. For optimal comfort and high environmental quality, this office skyscraper was renovated and transformed from March 2007 to autumn 2011. The American architectural firm Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates in association with the French firm SRA took in charge of the work. The total height of the tower was 231 meters for a surface area of 79,000 m². It therefore became in 2011 the tallest tower in La Défense to have changed its external appearance. It was a highly technical project with a very slender look.
What to discover at the CB31 Tower
The tallest skyscraper in France in front of the Montparnasse tower, the CB31 Tower is one of the most spectacular renovation operations in La Défense, in Courbevoie. Since its creation, the First Tower has housed various offices such as the audit and consultancy firm EY, the credit insurance company Euler Hermes, the headquarters of Laboratoires Expanscience and the coworking space Kwerk. It is an ecological building with limited heat input into the offices and reduced air conditioning. Thus, an entrance hall has been set up and natural light is diffused as much as possible with a breathtaking view of the city. The tower is made famous in the world for its relationship with its environment, energy management, maintenance as well as thermal comfort and aesthetics.
